The following articles are some of the ramblings I've created over the years.  Some are terrible.  Some are rather good.  All of them are special to me, and that is why they are here.  More to come soon, I hope, as I have more time.
Creative nonfiction
A Way of Life, written in late April 2006 as an assignment for a beginning journalism class.  My favorite piece of nonfiction writing.

Ride to Animas Fork, a story I wrote after visiting the ghost town of Animas Fork (near the town of Silverton, Colorado), on August 12, 2005.  More on this trip can be found under the Travelogue and Photography sections.

Memorial, written on Veteran's Day 2005.  Thoughts about sacrifice and honor.

Autumn, a semi-stream-of-consciousness exercise I did on the evening of November 28, 2004.  Very purple, but I rather like parts of it, especially the descriptions of the wood smoke.

Fiction
Snapshot of the Prairie, written as a descriptive essay assignment in tenth or eleventh grade.

The Knot, the piece of writing I am proudest of.  Written for a creative writing class in fall 2004.

Poetry
The Yellow Rose of Texas, Part Two, written April 13, 2002.  Her version of what REALLY happened (familiarity with the original verses may add to enjoyment of this cheesy poem).

California Rose, my first stab at a sort of western cowboy ballad.  It sounds unbalanced without the music behind it and is quite amusing because it is so bad.  Written April 12, 2002.

Not Much, loosely based on my town.  Written around 2003.

Something in the Springtime Air, written around 2002-2003. One of my better pieces of poetry, this was an attempt to create a song reminiscent of the Sons of the Pioneers/Riders in the Sky style.

Other
Outlaws of the Sierra Nevadas, a text adventure game I wrote in the summer of 2004.  You have to create a login and password to access it on this site, but you won't be spammed or otherwise bothered.
